The department received an ISO rating of 5/9E, which was announced by Office of the State Fire Marshall Rating Inspector Terry Young at a meeting on Dec. 9. The 5 ISO rating will impact those who live within five miles of either station in Zionville, while those outside the five miles will still fall under the 9E ISO rating. The fire rating system determines how well the fire department protects the community and ranges from one (highest) to 10 (not recognized as a certified fire department by the state). Community members should call their insurance agencies, as those who live in the fire district should see their insurance decrease. The new rating will go into effect January 1st, 2025.
